About Us


Ray Engineering Group, LLC, was founded in 1985, as Thomas L. Ray, Consulting Engineers, Inc. In 1992, the company's name was changed to Ray Engineering Group, Inc., to reflect the company's growth. In 2000, the company was reorganized as a partnership.

In the 15+ years since its beginning, the firm has designed over 1800 projects, with a total electrical construction value in excess of $100 million. Our clients include some of the world's largest telecommunications companies, Auburn University, The University of Alabama, The University of Alabama at Birmingham, Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center, St. Vincent Hospital, Medical Center East, Shelby Medical Center, Brookwood Hospital, Cullman Medical Center, Jackson Hospital, The City of Birmingham, and many others.

Currently, Ray Engineering Group, LLC has engineers registered in the states of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and West Virginia.

We utilize Windows 2000 Servers with workstations running Windows 2000 Professional and Windows XP Professional. We have six dedicated AutoCAD 2002 CADD workstations. In addition to AutoCAD 2002, we can also utilize AutoCAD Release 12, 13, 14, and 2000 in order to maintain compatibility with the architect's or owner's systems. Our data storage system utilizes hardware RAID, with nightly backups to tape. We have on- and off-site storage of backups, with archives on CD-ROM. We can provide digital file exchange via Internet, CD-ROM, and 100MB Zip Disk. Other formats are available by prior arrangement. We output to paper via multiple Hewlett Packard Designjet plotters.
